All Blacks win Supreme Halberg award

The All Blacks have won the Supreme Halberg award at the 53rd Halberg awards night, as well as taking out the Team of the Year award.

The winners

  • The Supreme Halberg award - the All Blacks
  • Team of the Year - the All Blacks
  • Sportsman of the Year - Black Caps batsman Kane Williamson
  • Sportswoman of the Year - Golfer Lydia Ko
  • Coach of the Year - All Blacks coach Steve Hansen
  • Disabled Athlete of the Year - Sophie Pascoe
  • Sporting moment of the year - Grant Elliot's match winning six against Australia.

The All Blacks were the first team to win back-to-back world titles at the World Cup in England last year.

Throughout the year, the All Blacks only lost won match to the Wallabies in the Rugby Championship.

All Black coach Steve Hansen won the coach of the year award earlier in the night.

Black Caps batsman Kane Williamson has won the Sportsman of the Year award.

Williamson had a standout year for the New Zealand cricketers, averaging over 90 runs with the bat in test cricket.

He also played a major role in the Black Caps success at the Cricket World Cup last year, where they finished runners-up to Australia.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has won the Coach of the Year award.

Hansen, who lead the All Blacks to their third World Cup title last year, took over as head coach from Sir Graham Henry back in 2012.

The All Blacks only lost one match under Hansen's rule in 2015 to the Wallabies in the Rugby Championship.

Golfer Lydia Ko has won the Sportswoman of the Year award at the 53rd Halberg Awards.

Ko had a standout year on the LPGA Tour where she claimed her first major title - the Evian Championship and finished the year as the world's number one women's golfer.

The finalists were selected by the Halberg Awards judges of former athletes, coaches and sports journalists, who reviewed 63 nominations submitted for six categories.
