Canes too strong for Force

The Hurricanes have claimed their first five point win of the Super Rugby season against the Western Force in Palmerston North.

The home side ran in six tries to the Force's none to win 41-6 and secure a bonus point for scoring three or more tries than their opposition.

Captain Dane Coles scored the first of the Hurricanes try in his first outing of the season.

Going into the half, the Hurricanes only held a lead of seven points but the floodgates opened just before the 60th minute with five tries in the final 20.

James Marshall, TJ Perenara, Blade Thompson, Ngani Luamape and Ardie Savea all crossed the line while Beauden Barrett added 11 points with the boot.

The Force first five Peter Grant scored the only points for the Force, both penalties coming in the 13th and 43rd minutes of the match.

The Hurricanes now sit atop the New Zealand conference alongside the Chiefs on 10 points while the Force fourth in their pool on five points.
