Portsmouth bid to avoid being wound up

Updated at 12:37 pm on 10 February 2010

The cash-strapped football side Portsmouth are in talks with British tax authorities in a bid to avoid becoming the first English Premier League club to be wound up.

The 2008 FA cup champion has a multi million pound unpaid tax bill

after the club's previous owner defaulted on loan payments.

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie says he's close to finding a new owner to invest in the club that is currently at the bottom of the points table.
