The netball administrator, Dawn Jones, has been made a Companion of the New Zealand order of Merit.
The former New Zealand cricketer and hockey player, now broadcaster and administrator, Lesley Murdoch, has been made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
The athletics administrator, Annette Purvis, has also been made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, as has Steve Sumner for services to football and Gary Troup for services to cricket.
The former Test cricketer, Barry Sinclar, has been made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit, as has the netball administrator and former Silver Ferns selector, Marlene Flavell.

Other sporting identities made Members of the New Zealand Order of Merit are the cycling administrator, Graham Sycamore, the Olympic volleyball coach, Hugh McCutcheon, the broadcaster, Barry Holland and the Chair of New Zealand cricket, Stuart Heal.
The Japanese philanthropist Dr Haruhisa Handa has been made an Honorary Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his contribution to golf.
The sports administrator and former All Black, Blair Furlong, has received the Queen's Service Medal for services to cricket and rugby.
