Ko is in a tie for 10th, four shots behind Canadian teenager Brooke Henderson.

The 19-year-old world number one mixed two bogeys with two birdies and 14 pars in her round of 71.

Meanwhile Tim Wilkinson is in a tie for 26th at the St. Jude Classic on the PGA Tour after an opening round of one under.

The left hander, who qualified for the U.S. Open earlier this week, is four shots behind the leaders - Seung-Yul Noh, Tom Hoge and Shawn Stefani.

Wilkinson made four birdies in his round but was undone by a double bogey at the par three 14th.

Fellow New Zealand golfer Danny Lee has the week off in preparation for next week's U.S. Open.
