The youngest driver in the field, New Zealander Shane Van Gisbergen, has finished third in his Stone Brothers Ford in the final race of the Australian V8 Supercars season-opening event in Abu Dhabi.
The Holden driver Jamie Whincup won the 200km race after winnng the first, the two-time champion sending clear message that he remains the man to stop despite his team's off-season switch from Ford.
The pole-sitter Mark Winterbottom's failure to get off to a clean start in his Ford Performance Racing Falcon, handed Whincup the early lead.
Winterbottom recovered from his sluggish start to claim second.
