More injury concerns for Chiefs

10:48 am on 22 February 2010

The injury toll for the Chiefs rugby team is mounting with four players returning home, 3 with injuries and 1 with a suspension.

Lock Craig Clarke suffered a groin injury and winger Sitiveni Sivivatu strained his shoulder in the weekend's win over the Lions in Johannesburg, while prop James McGougan has an ongoing back problem.

Number 8 Sione Lauaki was banned for 2 weeks for a dangerous tackle against the Lions.

Clarke is expected to be out of playing contention for 3 to 6 weeks, further stretching the locking stocks after Kevin O'Neill returned home early from their South African tour with an injury.

Sivivatu is expected to be out for two weeks.

Three replacement players, winger Lelia Masaga, lock Toby Lynn and prop Toby Smith will all fly to Perth to join the Chiefs squad who are preparing to take on the

Western Force this weekend.
