American Bode Miller has won the gold medal in the men's super combined alpine ski event at the Vancouver Olympics.

It was the fifth olmypic and first gold medal for the 32-year-old who earlier in the week won a silver on the Super-G and a bronze in the downhill.

Miller beat the croatian Ivica Kostelic into second place and Switzerland's Silvan Zurbriggen took the bronze.

Norway's Aksel Lund Svindal, who was leading after the downhill part of the event, saw his bid for a third medal of the Games disappear when he failed to finish the slalom.
