Ice Hockey match surpasses viewership record

Canada's men's Olympic ice hockey pool match against the United States was the most-watched sports programme in Canadian history, with 10.6 million viewers tuning in for the event.

Canada fell 5-3 to the United States in Vancouver, but the match still drew in 300 thousand more viewers than the previous record.

10.3 million people watched Canada down the United States in the men's ice hockey final at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
