Aussie opener set to pursue batting both ways

1:09 pm on 25 February 2010

The Australian limited overs batting sensation David Warner is determined to challenge the umpires by batting both left and right-handed in the limited overs cricket series against the Black Caps.

During his second fastest half century of all time against the West Indies on Tuesday night in Sydney, left-hander Warner took a right-handed stance at one stage, but he's been warned against doing that because it wastes too much changing the field, and its against the spirit of the game.

The 23 year old New South Welshman says tomorrow night's first Twenty20 game in Wellington could be another chance to test the patience of umpires by batting on both sides.

He has the support of the Australian coach Tim Nielsen.
