India's master batsman Sachin Tendulkar has dedicated his historic 200 not out to his cricket-crazy nation after becoming the first batsman to score a double century in one-day internationals.

Tendulkar achieved the landmark in the second one-dayer against South Africa in Gwalior guiding his team to a mammoth 401-3 and a 153-run win which has given India an unbeatable 2-nil lead in the series.

36 year old Tendulkar has carried the expectations of a nation of 1.2 billion people since his debut as a 16-year-old in 1989, and he's thanked the fans for standing by him through some tough times.

He holds records for most runs in tests and one day internationals, and most centuries in one-day internationals and tests, a total of 93.
