The White Ferns have beaten South Africa by 95 runs in the fifth one-day cricket international in Paarl to take an unassailable lead in the best of seven series.

Batting first New Zealand made 208 for 8 in their 50 overs after being 10-3 at one stage, with opener Natalie Dodd top scoring with 52 as she and Amy Satherwaite, 42, putting on 84 for the fourth wicket.

"It was hard work at the beginning, having lost a few wickets at the other end," Dodd said.

"But it was a good pitch, and I kept thinking to myself that if I got myself in, the runs would come. The biggest focus for me was keeping a clear head to stick with my game plan and my routines - and today it paid off."

South Africa were then bowled out for 113 in the 36th over with Erin Bermingham and Suzie Bates taking 3 wickets each.

New Zealand now lead the series 4-1 with game six on Saturday.
