$3 million boost for Rugby League

7:21 pm on 26 February 2010

The government sports funding agency SPARC has announced a $3 million investment in New Zealand Rugby League over three years.

It's the largest single such investment in rugby league in the sport's history in New Zealand.

Chief executive Peter Miskimmin says it reflects SPARC's confidence in the work the NZRL has done to implement the recommendations of the independent review chaired by Sir John Anderson.

Miskimmin says the NZRL has produced a sound strategic plan and put in place structures to boost the sport across New Zealand and make it sustainable.

In the past twelve months NZRL has adopted a new constitution, appointed a fresh board and established a national seven-zone structure.
