The New Zealand women's cricketers have beaten Pakistan by 14 runs in their one-off T20 international at Nelson's Saxton Oval.

The Women and Cricket report reveals only ten percent of players in the sport are female and of those 90 percent are under 12.

The White Ferns, who opted to bat first after captain Suzie Bates won the toss, only managed 118 runs for 9 off their 20 overs, consistantly losing wickets throughout their innings.

But the New Zealand bowlers stepped up to the challenge and restricted Pakistan to 104 for 9 to win the match.

Pakistan's Aliya Riaz was the top scorer with 28, while New Zealand's Liz Perry top scored for the home side with 26.

The White Ferns earlier won their five-match one day international series against Pakistan 5-0.
