The unseeded Latvian Ernests Gulbis has beaten the second-seed, Ivo Karlovic of Croatia in straight sets to win his first ATP tennis title, at the International Tennis Championships in Florida.

The 21-year-old Latvian, who's ranked 72nd in the world, won 6-3, 6-2.

The win will move him into the world's top 40.

Gulbis is the second player this year to win a title in his first finals appearance after American John Isner won the Auckland title in his first appearance in a championship match last month.
