Canada's men's ice hockey team has won the final gold medal of the Vancouver Olympics, with a thrilling 3-2 win over the United States, after the match was forced into overtime.

Canada had control of much of the game and led 2-1 going into the third and final period.

But the United States' Zach Parise equalised with just 25 seconds of play remaining, forcing the match into a golden-point overtime period.

It took just seven minutes for Canada's Sidney Crosby to score the winner, sending the squad and the sell-out crowd into a frenzy.

Canada also finish the Games on top of the gold medal table with 14 Olympic titles.
