Veteran skipper returns to top level match racing in Auckland

8:32 am on 3 March 2010

Ten of the world's top match racing and America's Cup skippers take to Auckland's Waitemata Harbour today for the four-day Auckland Match Racing Regatta.

The line-up features America's cup names such as Dean Barker and Bertrand Pace (par-say) as well as the new generation of racers including Britain's Olympic gold-medallist Ben Ainslie from Britain, and New Zealand's world match racing champion Adam Minoprio.

And the veteran New Zealand skipper Chris Dickson, who hasn't sailed at the top level since the America's Cup three years ago, says he's looking forward to challenging the younger brigade.

A number of skippers will be involved in next weeks Louis Vuitton World Series regatta in the America's Cup class boats.
