The Canterbury rugby league player, Vince Whare, has been banned from the sport for ten years after his third anti-doping violation.
The Sports Tribunal handed down the sentence after Whare tested positive for cannabis for the third time, in September last year.
He was fined for his first offence in 2005 and then suspended for two years after a second positive test.
That ban ended in 2008.
