NZ men's hockey team beaten

8:26 am on 4 March 2010

The New Zealand men's hockey captain Phil Burrows says defence is still an issue within his side and again played a part in their 3-1 loss to the Netherlands in their second match at the World Cup in Delhi.

Burrows scored the opening goal of the match after just a minute, but the world number four Dutch were ahead 3-1 at the break.

The Black Sticks made too many unforced errors and Burrows says their young, largely inexperienced defence did have troubles again today....

Defending champions Germany thrashed Canada 6-nil and Korea beat Argentina 2-1.

The Netherlands lead the group with 6 points after 2 rounds, Germany and Korea have 4, New Zealand 3 and Argentina and Canada none.

New Zealand's next match is against Korea on Saturday morning.
