All Whites lose football world cup warm up match

Mexico's beaten the All Whites two-nil in their football World Cup warm up match in Los Angeles.

It was nil all at halftime but Mexico scored two goals in the space of three minutes early in the second half and have several other chances which went begging.

New Zealand had few scoring opportunities although Shane Smeltz did put the ball in the back of Mexico's net, only for fellow striker Rory Fallon to be called offside.

Nineteen year old defender Tommy Smith, made his international debut for New Zealand as did 26-year-old Auckland City player Chris Coombes, in the midfield.
