After a first round 67 at La Quinta country club in the Californian desert, Lee carded a blemish free eight-under par 64 on day two.

He sat at 13-under for the tournament after the second day, one shot behind the leader from America, Hudson Swafford.

Fellow New Zealanders Steve Alker and Tim Wilkinson also enjoyed good second rounds to be in a tie for 39th at five-under par.

Meanwhile on the European Tour, New Zealander Ryan Fox has shot a one-under 71 overnight at the Abu Dhabi Championship to sit at four-under after two rounds.
