Loeb grabs commanding lead in Rally of Mexico

3:08 pm on 7 March 2010

The Six-times world champion Sebastien Loeb has taken charge of the WRC Rally of Mexico, building a lead of almost a minute after winning all but one of the stages on the second leg.

The Citroen driver started the day in third place, 27 seconds behind overnight leader Petter Solberg, but ended it 55.5 seconds clear of the Norwegian after eight wins from the day's nine stages around the central town of Leon.

Just 51.49 kilometres of competitive stages remain.

France's Sebastien Ogier, who drives for the Citroen junior team, was in third place after slowing deliberately towards the end to ensure he starts behind Solberg on Sunday.
