Brussow out for eight months

The Springbok loosie Heinrich Brüssow won't play rugby again this year after tearing knee ligaments in Sunday morning's Super 14 match between the Cheetahs and Hurricanes in Bloemfontein.

Brüssow had been in outstanding form in the first 4 rounds of the competition, but the injury suffered in the last few minutes of the match mean he'll be out of action for eight months.

South Africa are in the privileged position of having Schalk Burger available and he can still form an outstanding loose-trio with Juan Smith and Pierre Spies.

23-year-old Brüssow has played 13 tests for his country and was crowned as South Africa's young player of the year for 2009.
