Marion Jones launches basketball career

The disgraced US track sprinter Marion Jones, hoping to launch a career in a new sport, has signed a basketball contract with the WNBA's Tulsa Shock.

The star of the 2000 Sydney Olympics admitted two years ago she took performance enhancing drugs, and she was stripped of five Olympic medals, including three golds. She also spent six months in a Texas federal prison for lying about doping.

Before she became known as the world's fastest woman, Jones was the starting point guard on the University of North Carolina's national championship team in 1994.
