Batting first the Black Caps made 238 and the Australian innings was due to begin an hour ago.
The rain has stopped and the covers have been removed but the players are yet to take the field.

They made a strong start with Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill putting on 63 for the opening wicket, inside eight overs, when Guptill went for 30.
The Black Caps got to 120 for one but then lost five wickets for the addition of only 34 runs with McCullum evenutally out for 61.
Darryl Tuffey provided some lower order resistance clubbing 34 off 17 balls including four sixes.
The Australian off spinner Nathan Hauritz took three wickets.
