Australia has retained cricket's Chappell-Hadlee Trophy by winning the fourth one day match in Auckland with six wickets and 17 balls to spare after losing in Napier and winning in Auckland and Hamilton.
New Zealand again failed to bat for 50 overs and couldn't make the most of a good start, posting a modest 238 in 44.1 overs, after being 120 for one with Brendon McCullum batting well.
But the introduction of slower bowlers triggered a rash of soft dismissals, among them McCullum for 61.
Tailender Daryl Tuffey was the next-highest scorer, his career-best 34 from 17 balls, including four sixes.
A 90 minute rain delay meant Australia had to make to 200 off 34 overs and when Brad Haddin fell in Shane Bond's first over without scoring it looked for moment as if the target could be defended.
Hope flickered again when Daniel Vettori trapped Shane Watson and Ricky Ponting lbw but Cameron White and Mike Hussey made sure of the win.
