Pakistan great slams shock bans

6:22 am on 12 March 2010

The great Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram says his country has become the laughing stock of cricket and bans on key players following their disastrous Australian tour earlier this summer should be reconsidered.

Among other sanctions announced yesterday by the Pakistan Cricket Board, two former captains Younus Khan and Mohammad Yousuf have been banned indefinitely for in-fighting during the Australian section of their Down Under tour.

Wasim Akram was a member of the committee which investigated the fiasco in Australia, but he didn't attend any meetings, and he says the penalties will be a disaster for the national team who will be defending their World Twenty20 title next month in the West Indies.
