Counties say they will stay within their means

The Counties Manukau chief executive Phil McConnell says the former All Black captain Tana Umaga's mana, experience, professionalism and dedication are exactly what's needed to take the young side too the next level.

The Steelers have struggled in the provincial championship and were one of the sides tipped for relegation before the NZRU decided not to reduce the priovnical championship from 14 to 10 teams, opting instead for two seven team divsions..

The NZRU's chief executive , Steve Tew, has said it's up to provincial unions to stay within their means in this year's national championship and McConnell says Counties-Manukau will have no problems in that regards.
