Woods to return for Masters

Updated at 6:05 am on 17 March 2010

Tiger Woods has announced his comeback, and he'll mark his return to competitive golf at the year's first major championship, The Masters, early next month in Augusta, Georgia.

In a brief statement on his website Woods said he feels ready to start his season at Augusta where he won his first major championship, and four green jackets in all.

He's sent an apology to Arnold Palmer for withdrawing from the Tavistock Cup, a two round unofficial event Palmer co-hosts, Woods explaining that The Masters would be the earliest he could play.

The Masters starts three weeks on Friday.
