According to a police statement, Sinkler was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning following a minor disorder.

Further inquiries established the incident didn't warrant prosecution and the 24-year-old wasn't charged.

Police escorted him back to his accommodation at the Pullman Hotel.

In a statement, Sinckler said: "I apologise for putting myself and the Lions in this position and also to the police and anyone else affected."

The Lions drew the series against the All Blacks following their 15-all stalemate at Eden Park on Saturday, bringing an end to the six-week tour.

Lions tour manager John Spencer said he had spoken to the player.

"I have ... reminded him of his responsibilities as a Lion, which extend to his off the field behaviour.

"Kyle has apologised for any inconvenience caused and we are satisfied that he regrets this incident and that this is the end of the matter."

Separately, following the final whistle of the second test, Sinckler got into a scuffle with All Black reserve halfback TJ Perenara and refused to walk through the All Blacks guard of honour as they walked off the pitch.
