Black Caps banking on new training techniques

8:26 am on 18 March 2010

The New Zealand cricketers are hoping new training techniques will help them extend their stay at the batting crease when the first test against Australia starts in Wellington tomorrow.

The Black Caps have struggled to have to bat more than a hundred overs in both innings of a test, in recent series against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India.

The New Zealand vice captain Ross Taylor says they're now trying to simulate test match days and have been training for up to four hours.

Fine weather's forecast for the first three days of the test, with northerly winds becoming strong by Sunday.
