Newcastle open huge gap in Premier League race

Newcastle has taken another huge step closer to a Premier League return with a 3-0 home win over Scunthorpe to go 12 points clear of third-placed Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

The win restores Newcastle's four-point advantage over second-placed West Brom and leaves them needing a maximum of 15 points from their remaining 10 games to clinch promotion.

Scunthorpe's one of only one of four sides to beat Newcastle in the Championship this season but since that defeat in October , Newcastle's won 21 games and lost only one.
