The biggest loser in Australian swimming, Geoff Huegill, has completed his fairytale return to the sport by qualifying for the Australian team for this year's Commonwealth Games.

The weight of the Sydney 2000 Olympic medalist ballooned to 138kg six years ago, but he's now 46kg lighter and has won the 50m butterfly at the Australian trials in Sydney.

The 31-year-old says it's a dream come true.

Meanwhile 14-year-old Yolane Kukla, who became the youngest female to make a senior Australian swim team by winning the women's 50 butterfly on Wednesday, was disqualified after winning the 100 freestyle.
