The Wellington allrounder Lucy Doolan returns to the New Zealand women's cricket team for the World Twenty20 tournament starting in the West Indies in May after recovering from knee surgery.

The White Ferns coach Gary Stead says there's an exciting blend of youth and experience with only Wellington's Liz Perry yet to play an international.

Central's Aimee Watkins is the captain and Canterbury's Amy Satterthwaite the vice captain.

Rachel Priest is the only specialist wicketkeeper with cover provided by Maria Fahey and Lucy Doolan.

The rest of the team is: Suzie Bates, Erin Bermingham, Kate Broadmore. Sara McGlashan. Nicola Browne , Natalie Dodd , Sophie Devine, and Sian Ruck.

The White Ferns are in Group B with India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan and their first match is against India on May 6.
