Silver for Sergent in Copenhagen

The New Zealand track cyclist Jesse Sergent of Feilding has finished second in the men's 4000 metres individual pursuit final at tthe world championships in Copenhagen.

Sergeant qualified fastest, about three tenths of a second ahead of the current champion, Taylor Phinney, but the American was 1.8 seconds ahead in the race for the gold medal.

Auckland's Sam Webster is through to the final in the kierin while Invercargill's Tom Scully couldn''t get a break at the right time to have a chance of sprinting for the medals in the scrach race and finished seventh.
