No shocks on day one at Hong Kong sevens

All the top seeds won on the opening day of the Hong Kong rugby sevens, the sixth leg in this season's IRB World Series.

New Zealand thrashed Taiwan 59-5 while Fiji, Kenya, Australia and England all also won convincingly against Asian opposition and Samoa were again impressive in seeing off Italy 40-12.

Reigning World Series champions South Africa were made to work far harder by neighbours Zimbabwe, eventually running out 28-15 winners.

New Zealand face France then Scotland in their remaining pool matches.
