The Hurricanes and Blues have both suffered late losses in their respective Super 14 rugby matches with the Hurricanes going down 29-26 to the Sharks in Wellington and the Blues beaten 39-32 by the Waratahs in Sydney.

The Hurricanes scored a converted try late in the game to tie the scores up before the Sharks halfback Ruan Pienaar slotted a 48-metre penalty on the hooter to give the South Africans their second straight win on tour.

It was the Hurricanes' fourth straight loss.

In Sydney, the Waratahs scored an intercept try eight minutes from time to beat the Blues, who'd got back into the game with 19 points in 15 minutes around half time and led until the errant pass from Taniela Moa handed the homeside the win.

The South African side the Bulls remain unbeaten on top of the standings after coming from behind to beat the Western Force 28-15 in Perth.
