Hoffman started his career with the Storm before joining the Auckland-based NRL club in 2015 for three seasons.

The 33-year-old back rower made 60 appearances for the Warriors, including one season as captain in 2016.

Hoffman scored 10 tries throughout his time with the club and kicked one field goal in his 300th NRL appearance.

He was told earlier this season that his services would no longer be required at the Warriors after they signed Tohu Harris from the Storm.

Hoffman's one year deal will be his third stint with the Melbourne Storm after he took a one year deal with the Wigan Warriors in the UK Super League back in 2011.

He's played nearly 250 games for the Storm over 11 seasons with the club.

The Melbourne Storm won this year's NRL Premiership but have also lost a number of key players including Harris and playmaker Cooper Cronk.
