Former Pakistan captain resigns over ban

The former Pakistan cricket captain and former world record holding batsman Mohammad Yousuf says he's quit the game in protest against an indefinite ban.

Yousuf was captain for most games on the Australian leg of Pakistan's recent Down Under tour when they lost every match, and he was among seven leading players subsequently fined and banned.

Yousuf is Pakistan's third highest run scorer in test matches, and second highest one day run-getter.

In 2006 he scored 1,788 test match runs including nine hundreds, the world record for most runs scored and hundreds in a calendar year.
