David Tua has beaten the Nigerian heavyweight boxer Friday Ahunanya in a unanimous points decision last night in west Auckland.
But the former world title challenger couldn't knock down Ahunanya and the 12 round bout won't have done much to boost his chances of another title fight.
Ahunanya, was able keep away from Tua's big punch for most of the fight, jabbing and moving on the outside.
Mid-way through the 10th round Ahunanya slipped on the ropes and almost hit the canvas under presssure from Tua.
But Tua had the better of the the last round of an otherwise largely uneventful bout.
He says Ahunanya was more he expected and while he didn't get the knockout he wanted he's looking forward to his next fight.
