Semenya aims to compete despite sex-test suspension

Caster Semenya, the world 800 metres women's champion, announced her competitive return despite the insistence of athletics' world governing body that she must wait for the outcome of gender verification tests.

The 19-year-old South African says the IAAF's investigation has dragged on too long following her suspension after her surprise world championship win last August in Berlin.

She says her athletic capabilities and earning potential are being severely compromised it's

vital for her competitiveness,well being and preparations for events during the European summer that she measure her performance against other athletes.
