The New Zealand cricket captain Dan Vettori has pinpointed his side's disappointing first innings batting effort as the key contributor to their 176-run loss to Australia, in the second Test in Hamilton.
The Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson took 10 wickets in the match, picking up six for 73 in the second innings after New Zealand resmued this morning at 185 for five needing 479 to win.
They were dismissed for 302 just before lunch with Martin Guptill making 58 and Brendon McCullum 51.
Having dismissed Australia for 231 on the opening day Vettori says they failed to capitalise on Ross Taylor's century, by only gaining a 33 run first innings lead.
The result gives Australia a 2-0 series win.
