David Tua has beaten the Nigerian heavyweight boxer Friday Ahunanya in a unanimous points decision in west Auckland.
But the former world title challenger couldn't knock down Ahunanya and the 12-round bout won't have done much to boost his chances of another title fight.
Ahunanya was able to keep away from Tua's big punch for most of the fight, jabbing and moving on the outside.
Midway through the 10th round Ahunanya slipped on the ropes and almost hit the canvas under pressure from Tua.
But Tua had the better of the last round of an otherwise largely uneventful bout.
He says Ahunanya was more than he expected and while he didn't get the knockout he wanted he's looking forward to his next fight.
