The global police agency Interpol says South Africa's FIFA World Cup security planning surpassed its expectations, with no tournament terrorism threats identified ahead of the June 11 kick-off.
Interpol's secretary general Ronald Noble says his organisation will work alongside local police during the Cup finals, and provide links to its database of lost and stolen passports to help identify security risks.
South Africa will deploy 41,000 police officers during the month-long tournament.
