The North Queensland Fury's future appears assured after Football Federation Australia guaranteed the struggling A-League newcomers a spot in the 2010-11 A-League.

The FFA says it will provide additional financial support to the club, which is trying to raise almost $3 million to remain in the competition.

But whether marquee Fury signing Robbie Fowler will remain in Townsville remains unclear, with North Queensland's inaugural owner Don Matheson pleading with the FFA to do everything in its power to keep the former Liverpool star.

Fowler will need to take a hefty pay cut if he is to see out his three-year contract at the cash-strapped expansion club, now being run by the FFA.
