Women's hockey team heading in right direction

8:38 am on 4 April 2010

The New Zealand women's hockey coach Mark Hager is confident the team's heading in the right direction after they gave the more-fancied Argentina a scare this week.

The visitors won yesterday's third Test to clinch the series 2-1, after the Black Sticks had won Wednesday's opening Test.

Hager says at this stage the top nations are still beating them more often than not, but he insists they're improving.

The Black Sticks' next outing is a home series against India in five weeks' time.
