Ten-man Liverpool has gone down 2-1 at Portugese club Benfica in the Europa League's quarter-final first leg.

Two penalties did for the Reds, one coming after Ryan Babel was sent off on the half-hour mark.

Liverpool led at half-time through a Fernando Torres goal.

But they'll be confident going back to Anfield with the away goal.

In other matches, fellow Premier Leaguers Fulham beat German side VfL Wolfsburg 2-1 at Craven Cottage in London after it was scoreless at half-time, Hamburg beat Anderlecht at home by the same score and Valencia could only draw 2-2 with Atletico Madrid, handing the capital side the advantage going into the second leg.
