Late first round start for Woods at Masters

7:56 am on 7 April 2010

The Masters tournament committee have given Tiger Woods a late tee time for the opening round on Friday, and they've conferred on the Korean KJ Choi and the American Matt Kuchar the dubious honour of playing alongside the world number one for the first two rounds.

Woods will start his first PGA tour event for nearly five months at 1.42 local time in the second to last group of the day, guaranteeing that at least half his round will be televised live in the United States.

The defending champion, Argentine Angel Cabrera will start his title defence alongside the veteran American Jim Furyk, and an unheralded South Korean.

Michael Campbell is the only New Zealander in the field.
