The Black Caps batsman Brendon McCullum has signed to play for Sussex in the English county cricket's Twenty20 competition.

McCullum's currently playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League and will replace Tillakaratne Dilshan, who has been refused permission to play by Sri Lanka after they scheduled extra tours.

In February against Australia, McCullum became only the second player to score a century in a Twenty20 international.

He joins West Indian Dwayne Smith as one of Sussex's two overseas players for the competition, which starts in June.

The New Zealand cricket team's next international assignment is the Twenty20 world cup in the Carribean which starts at the end of the month, but there's no winter tour for the squad.
