Top Argentina rugby players will come back: former Pumas coach

The chance of competing in a high-class competition will entice Argentina's top rugby players back from Europe, according to former coach Marcelo Loffreda.

Loffreda, who coached Argentina from 2000 to 2007, says the Pumas' planned addition to the Tri-Nations competition from 2012 is what Argentina rugby has been seeking but it will take a couple of years for them to adapt to the level of competition.

Last month, the International Rugby Board approved $15 million in funding for the Tri-Nations governing body SANZAR to cover any shortfall from Argentina joining the competition.

The IRB council will meet next month to consider if a recommendation, governing the release of players from clubs for international duty, should be extended to cover a Four Nations window from late August through September.
